NORRA Launches 1000 Miles of Stories Feature With Pioneers Mike Pearlman and Sal Fish!

Agua Dulce, CALIF. – Mark your calendars, set a reminder; you don’t want to miss this live interview with off road racing pioneers Sal Fish, and Mike Pearlman. Thursday, July 2nd at 5PM Pacific Time, on the NORRA facebook page www.facebook.com/NorraFanPage, the two legends will be live discussing their first hand experiences in the origins of NORRA, and organized off road racing. The interview is part 1 of a series of interviews called 1000 miles of stories. NORRA Mexican 1000 fans will be treated to insights, and stories from those who lived it. Future shows will feature racers, more Baja legends, historians, and distinguished others who have challenged Baja from one end of the peninsula to the other; you don’t want to miss it!

No other racing event immerses competitors in the food, drink, culture, and beauty of Baja, like the Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 presented by Method Race Wheels. Competitors run the gamut from offroad racing icons and current stars, to adventure seeking average Joes and well-travelled lovers of Baja. NORRA has classes for bikes, quads, UTV’s, and 4 wheel classes for everything from vintage vehicles to state of the art race cars. They even have an RV class, and one for Vespa’s. NORRA pays homage to the past and celebrates the future. The Mexican 1000 was first run in 1967. Until NORRA came in, and established a sanctioned event, adventurers would compete for the fastest time running the length of the Baja Peninsula on their own. They kept track of their runs by sending telegraphs at the start and the finish, to record their times. Today, the Mexican 1000 runs in stages each day so competitors can relax, enjoy good food, and drink as they rub elbows with fellow competitors. They travel the length of the Baja Peninsula before finishing in beautiful San Jose Del Cabo for a huge celebration. There is nothing like it, and the memories made today will be told around the campfire, and during the 1000 miles of stories series in the future. ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel & Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, RIGID, Multitool USA, Satellite Phone Store.com, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, The Fab School, Schampa, K&N, Baja Bush Pilots, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
