URGENT! A NORRA MEXICAN 1000 RALLY ALERT!
February 22, 2017. (Agua Dulce, Calif.): The NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally is working to make sure everyone has the best time possible at “The Happiest Race On Earth!” New for the Mexican 1000 rally is a state of the art tracking and safety system by Anube Stella. The Stella III Tracking System is incredible with enhanced safety features that send out a distress signal to approaching cars or bikes. If a racer breaks down or is stranded for any reason, they can push the distress button and every approaching vehicle will receive an audible warning and flashing light on their unit to warn them.
Regardless of line of sight, dust or darkness, drivers will have time to slow down, avoid a conflict or prepare to stop and render assistance. There is also an SOS feature that sends a signal to the monitoring center. They will respond and if no input is returned, they will dispatch assistance. Cars that stop to provide assistance will have their time noted by the system. If after initiating a stopped signal and the vehicle continues, the system will cancel the signal once the vehicle exceeds 3 miles per hour. There is also a passing protocol that allows the car ahead to communicate with the passing vehicle to let it know when it’s safe. No more high risk passing in the dust. Any car that blocks the car behind will be caught by the system.
In addition to the many safety features, the Stella system has a readout that displays Odometer, Chronometer, Mileage, Danger Warnings and VCP validation. The amount of information and safety features of the system are remarkable. The Stella system has been proven in race conditions and was very popular with competitors.

ABOUT NORRA
Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, four-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern desert Rally Raid cars, pre-runner trucks, buggies and motorcycles.
Pearlman's late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.
The 2016 NORRA Mexican 1000 was supported by Multi-Tool USA, Method Race Wheels, Azunia Tequila, Walker Evans Racing, South Point Hotel Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers and Mastercraft/Impact Safety.
