URGENT! A NORRA MEXICAN 1000 RALLY ALERT!
February 25, 2017. (Agua Dulce, Calif.): In a continued effort for safety and fun, the NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally has set a new course for the Bikes, leaving San Felipe on Day 2, to arrive in Guerrero Negro instead of Bahia de los Angeles. NORRA has taken the lead and prepared a list of accommodations which you can easily book on the NORRA website store page (link below). Those bike entrants who have already purchased a room in BoLA will automatically receive a room in Guerrero Negro and will be contacted by NORRA directly for credit on the difference in cost.
2017 NORRA Mexican 1000 Mileage maps with Mag7 pit locations will be released within the next couple weeks. Be on the lookout so you can further your strategies. For reference on where this diversion is taking you, please see the updated day-to-day rally points map below.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE TOWN YOU'RE VISITING
Guerrero Negro is the largest town located in the municipality of Mulegé in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. It had a population of 13,054 in the 2010 census. The town is served by Guerrero Negro Airport Guerrero Negro was founded in 1957 when Daniel Ludwig built a salt works there to supply the demand of salt in the western United States. The salt mine was established around the Ojo de Liebre coastal lagoon to take advantage of its strong salinity. This company eventually became the greatest salt mine in the world, with a production of seven million tons of salt per annum, exported to the main centers of consumption in the Pacific basin, especially Japan, Korea, the United States, Canada, Taiwan and New Zealand. ABOUT NORRA
Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, four-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern desert Rally Raid cars, pre-runner trucks, buggies and motorcycles.
Pearlman's late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.
The 2016 NORRA Mexican 1000 was supported by Multi-Tool USA, Method Race Wheels, Azunia Tequila, Walker Evans Racing, South Point Hotel Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers and Mastercraft/Impact Safety.
