March 1, 2018 (Agua Dulce, Calif.): Alert Alert Alert
NORRA will be using the RacingTraX / AlertTraX system for tracking and safety in this year’s Mexican 1000. The first thing to do is to go to www.racingtrax.com/rentals/norra.html then fill in your information.

RacingTraX will send a mounting kit that will include a power cable and RAM mount for Cars, Trucks and UTV’s. For Bikes and Quads the kit will include a power cable and cup bracket that the AlertTraX device fits down into. It will be the responsibility of the rider to mount the cup in a safe and secure location BEFORE arriving to tech. Bikes with out a charging system will need to turn in their tracker at the end of each day to be charged, the tracker will be re-assigned at the beginning of the next days stage. An instruction sheet will be included in your mailed package. Please place your order, get your mounting kit and read the instructions before calling with questions. All racers must have their power cable wired and mount installed before getting in line to go through tech inspection.

You will receive your tracker at registration where you will also go through a 2 minute mandatory education class on how to use the AlertTraX system. From there you will go back to your bike or car and install your own tracker. There will be RacingTraX staff at tech inspection that will verify power and proper installation.

The RacingTraX system has been providing reliable and accurate tracking and critical safety features since becoming available. Used in the USA and Mexico since 2014, the system supplies a whole host of features that increase safety for users. If you should experience any problems on course the unit has simple Mechanical and Medical Alert Buttons to summon assistance. Automatic impact and rollover detection and emergency satellite messages sent to Race Management are just some of the unique features. For the drivers/riders RacingTraX displays Pass Request Notification, Stopped Vehicle Hazard Alerts, Virtual Check Point Indicators, Speed Zone Indicators with Posted and Actual Speed Comparison and is also capable of automatic Race-to-Chase position updates sent every 8 minutes with race vehicle’s race-mile and speed all through the Iridium satellite network. *Extra fees apply for direct Race-to-Chase satellite tracking.

ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, four-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern desert Rally Raid cars, pre-runner trucks, buggies and motorcycles.

Pearlman's late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

The 2018 NORRA Mexican 1000 is supported by Yokohama, Method Race Wheels, Walker Evans Racing, South Point Hotel Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, Multitool USA, Mastercraft/Impact Safety, P.C.I. Race Radios, Baja United Group, Ensenada Proturismo, Steel-It and many more.
