FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EMAIL:

April 18, 2018 (Agua Dulce, Calif.): Bilstein has signed a three year sponsorship deal with NORRA and looks forward to expanding their involvement with the Mexican 1000 rally. NORRA’s Mexican 1000 rally honors the past, while forging the future. The same can be said about Bilstein. Bilstein has been making performance shock absorbers for motorsports competition for 50 years. Many of the vintage vehicles that compete in the Mexican 1000 are riding on the same Bilstein shocks they competed on when new. Bilstein is also forging the future by producing a full line of performance shocks that are leading the way in suspension damping technology. They have applications that cover everything from daily drivers to professional race vehicles; with even more on the way. As the NORRA Mexican 1000 continues to grow, so does Bilstein’s success in offroad racing. On the track, racers like Jerett Brooks and Darren Hardesty Jr. are racking up championships. Jerett Brooks won back to back championships in the ultra-competitive Pro Lite truck class, and Darren “Hot Sauce” Hardesty Jr. is going for his third straight Pro Buggy Championship in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series this season.

The Bilstein technology developed in racing is also available for your factory based truck or SUV. The new B8 8112 (ZoneControl® CR) suspension kit will enhance your suspension performance to a level that will defy convention. The high tech bolt-on coilover shock kit supplies position sensitive damping with 3 compression zones and 2 rebound zones, controlled by 3 independent pistons. Featuring superior bottom out control through a 2-stage, telescoping internal compression stop, it eliminates the need for an external hydraulic bump stop. The secondary rebound stop dissipates spring energy and stabilizes the suspension directly following a large compression event. The internal rebound stop will also eliminate harsh top-out events and the need for an external limit strap. If that sounds complicated it isn’t, just bolt them on and go. Another parallel between the NORRA rally and Bilstein is the prestigious Madonna award. The coveted Bilstein Madonna trophy is recognized around the world as one of the most prestigious honors a race driver can achieve. Off-road racing champions such as Ivan "Ironman" Stewart, Mark McMillin, and Mark Stahl, have all been past recipients of the Madonna. Both McMillin and Stahl have earned Madonna’s in the early days of offroad racing, and in the modern era while competing in the Mexican 1000 rally. Ivan Stewart, Mark McMillin, and many other icons of the sport compete each year in the Mexican 1000 because it’s “The Happiest Race On Earth!” It travels the entire length of the Baja Mexico peninsula with stops each night in a unique town along the way. There is no better way to enjoy racing in Baja if you love the scenery, people, food, and culture of Baja, and Bilstein is excited to be a part of all the fun.

BILSTEIN will also be presenting two Gift Certificates at the Awards Ceremony in San Jose del Cabo that may be redeemed for a set of direct fit truck or SUV shocks.

ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, four-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern desert Rally Raid cars, pre-runner trucks, buggies and motorcycles.

Pearlman's late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

The 2018 NORRA Mexican 1000 is supported by Yokohama, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel Casino, Walker Evans Racing, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, Steel-It, Multitool USA, RIGID, VP Racing Fuels, Timberline, Ensenada Proturismo, Mastercraft/Impact Safety, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, Roganto, Biltwell Inc., Schampa, Racing TraX.com, Satellite Phone Store.com, P.C.I. Race Radios, WARN, Magic Bullet, US Action Trax.com, and many more.
