April 20, 2018 (Agua Dulce, Calif.): STEEL-IT® Polyurethane coating is a perfect match for the offroad environment. Good looking, easy to apply, and tougher than dirt, their unique coating can even be welded on when a field repair needs to be done. Welds are clean and strong because STEEL-IT Polyurethane is packed full of 316L stainless steel micro flakes that are combined with additional anti-corrosive elements in a polyurethane resin. The stainless steel shield that is created makes your components nearly impervious to rust and corrosive elements while providing a durable finish that holds up under the most challenging conditions. Racing in Baja did not exist before NORRA organized the Mexican 1000, and the ultimate coating did not exist before STEEL-IT developed it.

"The NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally is the original, authentic Baja off-road desert race,"" said Michael Faigen of STEEL-IT. "It’s the real deal, without a doubt deserving of the high regard in which it’s held. As well-established as the Mexican 1000 is in off-road, STEEL-IT is in some ways the opposite, only recently becoming an active participant in this very special sport, filled with some of the world’s most competitive and successful racers. Yet off-road attracts a special kind of racer and support team. The culture draws in genuine, good-hearted people. As relative newcomers, we’ve benefitted from this special community that has made us feel truly welcome. It is an honor for STEEL-IT to be associated with this singular group of people and help support the remarkable event they bring to life."

In order to honor the competitors at the Mexican 1000, STEEL-IT is providing over 500 bottles of Limited Edition REGANTO wine cased in a custom numbered wooden STEEL-IT box that will be distributed amongst registered drivers. They will be able to choose from a Chardonnay roganto.com/nuestros_vinos/2/detalles or the Nebbiolo roganto.com/nuestros_vinos/8/detalles. Bottles will also be available at each table at the awards banquet in Cabo. The Roganto wines are a labor of love. In 1987, two men from Ensenada, Rogelio Sánchez Del Palacio, and Antonio Luis Escalante Dominguez set out to develop the perfect grapes for wine making. They did not bottle their first wine for sale until 2001. They now produce Sauvignon-Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo, Malbec, Mourvedre and Grenache. To learn more about the Valle de Guadalupe winery in Baja California, visit: www.roganto.com.

In addition to the wine, each registered driver will receive a STEEL-IT gift box containing a 4oz Polyurethane aerosol sample, coozie, decal and detailed application instructions. STEEL-IT is excited to take part in “The Happiest Race On Earth!” and experience the beauty, and culture of Baja California, Mexico. ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, four-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern desert Rally Raid cars, pre-runner trucks, buggies and motorcycles.

Pearlman's late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

The 2018 NORRA Mexican 1000 is supported by Yokohama, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel Casino, Walker Evans Racing, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, Steel-It, Multitool USA, RIGID, VP Racing Fuels, Timberline, Ensenada Proturismo, Mastercraft/Impact Safety, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, Roganto, Biltwell Inc., Schampa, Racing TraX.com, Satellite Phone Store.com, P.C.I. Race Radios, WARN, Magic Bullet, US Action Trax.com, and many more.
