The Fab School - Official Repair Team Of The 2020 Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000

Agua Dulce, CALIF. – Professional race teams have an entire crew of seasoned fabricators at their call when repairs are needed. Now thanks to The Fab School, with support from Miller Welders (Miller), everyone entered in the Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 will have the same. The Fab School will have a team of 4 fabricators who will head out each morning and be set up to do any repairs necessary as the drivers arrive at the finish each day. NORRA has a longstanding tradition of leaving nobody behind. Fellow competitors will work on each other’s cars so that everyone can be at the celebration on the beach in Cabo. With help from The Fab School and Miller, even small teams will have all the support they need. These dedicated fabricators will work late into the night if needed. Competitors will have fabrication resources at their disposal, and the fabricating team will gain valuable experience in problem solving in race conditions. It’s a win, win for everyone.

The Fab School was established by Troy Johnson in 2005 to pass down the skills he honed working for top offroad race teams to the next generation. Like NORRA, they celebrate the past while forging the future. Their graduates have gone on to be crucial members of professional teams in many types of racing. Some have established their own companies to produce complete cars and/or specialty parts. The Fab School is an accredited vocational training facility that supports the military through the GI Bill, and its students are eligible for federal financial aid. The school has grown to offer a diverse curriculum that includes welding, metal fabrication, 3D Printing, CAD/CAM design, CNC machinery, and carbon fiber construction methods.

Miller products are designed for manufacturing, fabrication, construction, aviation, motorsports, education, agriculture and marine applications. Miller, headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin, maintains its industry leadership by setting the standard for reliability, quality and responsiveness. Their tagline, “The Power of Blue®,” is inspired by the blue color of Miller equipment. The company grew from a one-man operation in 1929, to the world’s largest manufacturer of arc welding products. Miller keeps the tradition alive by focusing on its top priority: people. It shows through their community involvement. They annually donate thousands of personal hours for community improvement projects, and the company also gives employees paid time off for these efforts as well.

We happily welcome The Fab School and Miller to the NORRA family. NORRA competitors run the gamut from offroad racing icons and current stars, to adventure seeking average Joes and well-travelled lovers of Baja. NORRA has classes for bikes, quads, UTV’s, and 4 wheel classes for everything from vintage vehicles to state of the art race cars. After each day of racing, you will have enough free time to make repairs, and prepare for the following day while experiencing a different location in Baja. Each overnight stop has its own unique charm and character. Every team stays in the same towns and attends the same events every night. The very first adventurers who set off to run the Baja peninsula would throw a huge celebration afterwards to mark their accomplishment. That tradition continues to this day at the Mexican 1000. If you love to race, love to have fun, and love the food, drink and music of Baja, you must come down and experience “The Happiest Race On Earth!”, the NORRA Mexican 1000. ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel Casino, K&N, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, RIGID, Multitool USA, Timberline, Schampa, Satellite Phone Store.com, PCI Race Radios, Warn, Biltwell, USActionTrax, Joe Hauler, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
