There’s A METHOD To Our Madness At The NORRA Mexican 1000!

Agua Dulce, CALIF. – Things get kind of crazy when the final days before the Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 presented by Method Race Wheels come along. All the planning, and preparation that goes into the race will soon be rewarded when we get an entire week of good times and smiling faces. Nobody knows this any better than the crew at Method Race Wheels. First they make the race possible by sponsoring the event, and then they come down, and add to the fun by racing every year. This year they are also sponsoring the Happy Hour after the drivers meeting, and will give away a pint signature glass for each competitor. In addition to that, they are awarding 5 sets of wheels to racers, and will be handing out cool swag during the event.

Speaking of cool, Method Race Wheels also extends the love to all NORRA racers by offering a factory direct Racer Program which allows teams to purchase wheels at a deep discount for their race vehicles.

You will find founding partners Kevin Fitzgerald, Bud Fitzgerald, and Colbey Groom behind the wheel of their familiar 1974 Ford F100 racing in the Vintage Open Trucks category. Also missing from work that week will be Director of Sales and Marketing Brian Godfrey who campaigns the Yokohama backed Caballo Del Diablo Ford Bronco with his partner Boyd Jaynes. He and Jaynes are one of the winningest teams in NORRA history. Obviously Method Race Wheels loves the Mexican 1000, and the feeling is mutual. After all, the NORRA Mexican 1000 is all about the people.

Great people competing, and all the great people they meet along the way. No other event offers the rich history, amazing tales, interesting characters and spectacular backdrops that the NORRA Mexican 1000 delivers. Every stage of the rally has its own unique flavor. Together they encompass the unique challenges and incredible beauty of the Baja Peninsula. The challenge creates great camaraderie amongst the competitors. After a hard fought day of racing, you can sit around the camp fire, or belly up to the bar with industry titans, regular Joes, or racing icons. The stories you create will be the subject of tales told in the future. With classes for motorcycles, UTV’s, modern race cars and historic vehicles, there is a class for every competitor. Come down and join the guys from Method Race Wheels at “The Happiest Race on Earth!”, the Mexican 1000. Go to to find out how, but don’t wait. The race is coming up fast. Festivities commence on Fri. April 17 in Ensenada, Baja Mexico for the welcome Fiesta, Pre-registration, and day one of Tech inspection.

###   "The Happiest Race On Earth!"   ###

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel & Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, RIGID, Multitool USA, Satellite Phone, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, The Fab School, Schampa, K&N, Baja Bush Pilots, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
